Hospice volunteer OPPORTUNITIES
People volunteer for many different reasons—whether you want to make a difference in your community, be part of a team or gain new skills and work experience, we can provide a huge range of rewarding hospice volunteering opportunities that can work flexibly around your other commitments.
Skanda Vale Hospice Volunteering – Get Involved!
Skanda Vale Hospice is primarily led and run by volunteers. While a small number of paid staff provide expertise and consistency in key roles, most of our team, including all senior management, are hospice volunteers. So whether you’d like to help with nursing, leadership, care, fundraising or supportive services, there’s a role for you here.
Earlier this year, all 55 team members surveyed by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales recommended the hospice as a good place to work or volunteer. Read more about what they found.

Imagine being able to do something for people who really needed it, with other people who know the value of it and yet give it freely; as if it was nothing… In a place which is beautiful because someone really thought about how it should be, and didn't worry too much about the cost. A place where the whole of a person is acknowledged, not just their malfunction. Sometimes, I think I go there to glimpse a possible future—one we're not supposed to believe in. But look, here it is, in a small village in Wales… a beginning (but if anyone asks, I'm just here for the food!)

COME TO one of our coffee mornings—
Last Thursday of every month from 10.30-12.30
Good coffee, proper cake, gentle company. Our monthly coffee mornings are exactly what they sound like — a chance to sit down, have a chat, and let the morning take care of itself.
Whether you’re curious about what we do, thinking about volunteering, or just want to come along, you’re welcome. No agenda, no awkward requirements. Just turn up — everything’s free, and there’s always far too much cake.
